Private Nursing Care at Home in Dubai
Medilife provides private nursing care at home across Dubai, delivered by Medilife’s own nurses and arranged around one patient’s needs. Care starts with an assessment, so the hours and the nursing plan suit the person who needs them, whether they are recovering after surgery or a hospital stay, or living with a long-term condition. Skilled nursing can then happen at home, without repeated trips to a hospital or clinic.

Private Nursing, Freelance Nurses and Caregivers: What’s the Difference?
Private nursing at home means nursing care arranged for one patient and delivered in their own home. At Medilife it is part of our Home Nursing service in Dubai, focused on nursing that is planned around one person’s needs.
People use the phrase “private nurse” in different ways. Some mean a nurse they hire directly. Some mean a caregiver who helps around the house. Others mean nursing arranged through a healthcare provider. Medilife’s private nursing is the last of these: your nurse belongs to Medilife’s own home healthcare team, so one provider arranges the care and is responsible for it.

A nurse and a caregiver do different jobs. A nurse works to a clinical plan, watching a patient’s condition, supporting medication and carrying out nursing care. A caregiver helps with daily life but does not provide clinical care. Many families need one, the other, or both, depending on the patient.
Private nursing at home also sits alongside hospital care. It suits patients who are stable enough to be looked after in their own home.
Questions about which option fits? Speak with the Medilife care team.
Who Private Nursing at Home Can Support
Private nursing suits patients who need regular nursing and are stable enough to be cared for at home. A nursing assessment confirms what is appropriate for each person.
Recovery after surgery or hospital discharge
The first weeks at home can feel uncertain for patients and families. A nurse can monitor recovery, support medication and help the household settle into a routine, with the arrangement agreed after an assessment.
Older adults with reduced mobility
For a relative who is frail, less mobile or at risk of falling, a nurse in the home means someone trained is watching for changes in their condition. If the main need is broader support for an older person, Medilife’s Elderly Care may be the better starting point.
Ongoing conditions that need regular monitoring
Patients living with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease or a neurological condition often need routine checks and medication follow-up. A private nurse can carry these out at home as part of the agreed plan.
Medication that needs careful handling
Several medicines, changing doses or missed tablets can make medication hard to manage. A nurse can support medication under an authorised prescription, which takes pressure off the patient and the family.
Families who need support at home
Looking after a relative is demanding. Private nursing gives families professional help with clinical care, along with guidance on how to support their relative day to day, so they are not managing alone.
Not sure whether private nursing fits? Describe the situation to the Medilife team and arrange a nursing assessment. If the patient needs a nurse in the home around the clock, our page on 24-hour nursing at home explains that option.
What a Private Nurse Can Do at Home
Your Medilife nurse works from an individual nursing plan agreed after assessment. Depending on the patient’s needs, the plan can include the following.
- 01
Assessment and vital-sign monitoring
The nurse checks vital signs and observes how the patient is doing, so changes in condition are noticed early and can be acted on.
- 02
Medication support
Medication support follows an authorised prescription pathway. The nurse helps make sure medicines are taken as prescribed, which gives families confidence at home.
- 03
Nursing care as the plan requires
The nurse carries out the nursing care that the patient’s condition and plan call for, within the scope of their role.
- 04
Oxygen therapy where clinically indicated
For patients with a clinical need, oxygen therapy can be part of care at home, with the nurse supporting its use as directed.
- 05
IV treatment where indicated
When IV treatment is clinically indicated, Medilife provides it at home through its IV Therapy service, delivered by Medilife’s own team.
- 06
Guidance for family caregivers
Nurses explain what is happening and show family members how to support the patient day to day.
Private nursing is designed for planned, monitored care of patients who are medically stable. If someone develops chest pain, signs of a stroke or severe breathing difficulty, loses consciousness or has heavy bleeding, call an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital emergency department without delay. For a new but non-emergency concern, a Medilife doctor can visit at home.
Arrange a nursing assessment to discuss what the plan should include.
Who Provides Your Nursing Care
Nursing is delivered by Medilife nurses. Medilife Healthcare Services LLC runs its home healthcare through its own team, so the nurse caring for your relative works for the same provider as Medilife’s doctors, therapists and diagnostic staff. If a doctor’s visit, therapy or a test becomes necessary, you can arrange it with the same company.
Our doctors are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority. Each holds an individual professional licence, separate from the licence held by Medilife as a facility.

Nursing Hours, Availability and Starting Care
Three separate things shape how nursing begins: when you can arrange it, how soon it can start, and how many hours of care the patient needs.
When you can arrange it.
Because Home Nursing is available 24/7, you can ask the Medilife team to arrange nursing at any hour of the day or night. That is about when you can reach us. It does not mean a nurse is in the home at all times.
How soon it can start.
Same-day access is available across Medilife’s home healthcare services. When you speak to the team, they confirm when nursing can begin.
How many hours of care.
Hours are agreed for each patient, based on what the person needs. If the patient needs a nurse present around the clock, rather than set hours, see our page on 24-hour nursing at home for how continuous cover works.
Medilife’s nursing covers Dubai, including communities such as Dubai Marina, Business Bay, Downtown Dubai and JBR. The nurse comes to the patient’s home, so there is no clinic or hospital journey.
How Private Nursing Care Is Arranged
- 1
Contact Medilife.
Call or WhatsApp +971 52 345 2646, or send an online enquiry.
- 2
Share the patient’s needs and location.
Tell the team who needs care, what kind of support is needed, and where in Dubai the patient is. A recent hospital stay or surgery, and the current medicines, help the team understand the situation.
- 3
Medilife arranges the nursing service.
The team confirms the hours and the arrangement with you.
- 4
The nurse attends at home.
Your nurse assesses the patient, and care begins according to the agreed plan.
- 5
Care is reviewed and the next step agreed.
Nursing can continue, hours can change, a doctor visit or therapy can be added, or hospital care can be arranged if the patient needs it.
A clear nursing plan states the hours, the tasks, who is responsible for each, and when the arrangement will be reviewed. It should also reflect the patient’s own goals and preferences.
Cost, Quotation and Insurance for Private Nursing
The cost of private nursing depends on several things:
the number of hours of care each day, and how many days
the arrangement agreed for the patient
the complexity of the patient’s needs
the nursing interventions the plan requires
Medilife confirms the cost in a quotation once it has heard about the patient’s needs. Contact Medilife for the current fee. Ask for the quotation to state what is included, what is not, and who is responsible for what, so you can compare it fairly with any other option you are considering.
Whether insurance contributes depends on the individual policy and plan. Ask the Medilife team about current insurance or reimbursement documentation before arranging care.
Medilife Care That Works Alongside Private Nursing
A patient’s needs often change over time. Medilife’s home healthcare services cover nursing, medical visits, therapy and tests, so you can add what is needed without finding another provider.
Choosing Between Nursing Options
For an overview of everything Medilife’s nurses provide at home, see Home Nursing. This page focuses on private nursing planned around one patient; Home Nursing is the wider service it belongs to.
If the patient needs a nurse present round the clock rather than set hours, 24-hour nursing at home explains how continuous cover is arranged.
Medical and Therapy Support at Home
Doctor on Call
A Medilife doctor can visit the patient at home at any hour to assess urgent but medically stable concerns, such as a new symptom or a change in condition. The typical response time across Dubai is approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Elderly Care
When an older relative’s needs are broader than nursing alone, Medilife’s Elderly Care service supports older adults at home.
Physiotherapy at Home
Physiotherapists help with mobility, strength and recovery after surgery, illness or a fall, when it is indicated.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists help patients manage daily routines more independently and safely at home, when it is indicated.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapists support patients with communication or swallowing difficulties, when it is indicated.
Tests and Related Care Pathways
Home Blood Testing and Diagnostics
When tests are recommended, Medilife collects blood samples at home. A portable ECG can also be carried out at the patient’s location: a trained technician performs it and a cardiologist reviews the tracing.
IV Therapy
When IV treatment is clinically indicated, Medilife IV Therapy provides it at home as a separate service delivered by Medilife’s own team.
What Patients Say About Medilife
Medilife has served more than 47,000 patients and reports a 99.8% patient satisfaction rate. See what patients say about Medilife on Google and Trustpilot.
