| Kidney Function Test Mini | AED 250 | Urea, Uric Acid, Creatinine |
| Kidney Function Test Maxi | AED 450 | Urea, Uric Acid, Creatinine, BUN, and the confirmed electrolyte panel |
Creatinine is a waste product produced by your muscles and cleared by your kidneys. A higher creatinine result can be associated with reduced kidney filtration, but creatinine is also influenced by factors such as muscle mass, diet, hydration, medicines and other individual circumstances, so it's read alongside your history rather than on its own.
Urea and BUN both reflect nitrogen waste clearance and are also affected by hydration and diet. Uric acid is another blood marker included in the panel. The kidneys contribute to clearing uric acid from the body, but an abnormal result can have several causes and is interpreted separately from creatinine-based kidney filtration assessment.
The Maxi panel adds BUN and the confirmed electrolyte measurements, giving a broader biochemical profile. Which panel is appropriate depends on the reason for testing and any instructions from your healthcare professional. Ask the Medilife team for the exact electrolyte components included when you book.
Neither panel requires fasting, so you can book at a time that suits you without needing to plan around meals.
Quick answer
Who May Need a Kidney Function Test
A kidney function test can be a useful check for a number of reasons. It may be worth booking if you:
- Have diabetes. Diabetes is an important risk factor for chronic kidney disease, and kidney monitoring may be recommended depending on your clinical situation.
- Have high blood pressure. Hypertension affects the small blood vessels in the kidneys, which is why monitoring is often part of long-term care.
- Have a family history of kidney disease. Family history can be relevant when deciding whether kidney assessment is appropriate for you.
- Have noticed fatigue or swelling. These are common, nonspecific signs worth checking rather than diagnosing yourself.
- Take medicines that can affect the kidneys. Some medicines require kidney monitoring. If testing is being arranged for medication monitoring, follow the advice of the healthcare professional managing that treatment.
If none of these apply to you, the test can still form part of a general preventive health check. If you're not sure whether the Mini or Maxi panel is right for you, the Medilife team can talk you through the difference before you book.
How the Kidney Function Test Home Test Works
Booking a kidney function test with Medilife follows a simple sequence:
- Contact Medilife. Call, WhatsApp or send an online enquiry to arrange your test.
- Choose your panel, location and time. Pick Mini or Maxi, and let Medilife know whether you'd like the sample collected at home, at your office or at your hotel. No fasting is required beforehand.
- A DHA-licensed nurse visits you. Sample collection is carried out by a DHA-licensed nurse or phlebotomist from Medilife's own home healthcare team, following the appropriate collection and handling process for laboratory testing.
- Your sample is sent for laboratory processing through Medilife's confirmed testing pathway.
- Your report is delivered digitally within 24 hours of collection.
- Speak to a doctor if you'd like your results explained. Medilife's Doctor on Call service can review your report and talk you through what it means
Pricing: the Mini panel is AED 250, and the Maxi panel is AED 450.
Preparation: no fasting is required for either panel.
Results: delivered digitally within 24 hours.
Having your sample collected at home, at your office, or at your hotel means you don't need to travel to a clinic first, which can be particularly useful if you're managing a busy schedule, staying somewhere temporarily, or simply prefer not to sit in a waiting room.
Understanding Your Kidney Function Test Results
A kidney function test is a valuable screening and monitoring tool, but it has limits worth understanding before you book.
Your results show a snapshot of selected kidney-related markers at the time your sample was taken. They do not, on their own, provide a complete diagnosis of kidney disease. An unexpected result may need to be repeated or interpreted alongside previous results, your symptoms and other investigations before its significance is clear.
Early kidney changes, particularly in people with diabetes or high blood pressure, can sometimes appear in the urine before they show up in a blood test. Depending on your clinical situation, a healthcare professional may recommend urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR) testing or other assessments in addition to a blood kidney profile.
If your results fall outside the expected range, a Medilife doctor can help you understand what they mean and what, if anything, should happen next.

Why Book Kidney Function Test at Home With Medilife
Medilife Healthcare Services LLC is a DHA-licensed Home Healthcare Center, licensed by the Dubai Health Authority to deliver home healthcare across Dubai. Medilife has provided home healthcare in the city since 2016, building a track record of professional, in-home clinical service well before you book your test.
DHA-licensed Home Healthcare Center
Medilife operates under a Dubai Health Authority facility licence, so the team collecting your sample is part of a regulated home healthcare provider, not an unregulated third party.
Serving Dubai since 2016.
Medilife has been delivering home healthcare in Dubai for years, with the operational experience that comes from consistently managing home visits, sample collection and patient care across the city.
Medilife's own healthcare team
Your blood sample is collected by a member of Medilife's own staff. The visit isn't outsourced to an external agency or freelance phlebotomist, so the same team standards apply whether you book a doctor visit, nursing care or a home blood test.
Multilingual healthcare professionals
Medilife's team includes professionals who can communicate comfortably in multiple languages, reflecting Dubai's diverse population and helping you feel understood throughout the visit.
Clinic and laboratory infrastructure.
Medilife maintains its own clinic and laboratory infrastructure to support home collection services, so your sample moves through an established internal pathway rather than being handed off between unconnected third parties.
Experienced laboratory technicians
The technicians processing your sample bring hands-on laboratory experience to the analysis stage, supporting consistent handling from collection through to your digital report.
Straightforward pricing.
The Mini panel costs AED 250 and the Maxi panel costs AED 450, both covering home, hotel or office collection with no hidden collection fees added afterwards.
Related Home Health and Blood Test Care
If liver assessment is also relevant, Medilife's Liver Function Test is a separate blood panel covering confirmed liver-enzyme and protein markers. If you need both, ask Medilife whether both tests can be collected during the same appointment.
If you have diabetes or are monitoring your blood sugar, Medilife's Diabetes Blood Test can be arranged alongside a kidney function test, since the two conditions are often assessed together.
A Doctor on Call consultation can provide clinical assessment when you need help understanding your results or discussing symptoms. Doctor on Cal service brings a DHA-licensed doctor to your home, hotel or office, available 24/7 across Dubai.

Frequently Asked Questions
Depending on the panel you choose, it measures Urea, Uric Acid, and Creatinine, or all of these plus BUN and electrolytes, together giving information on kidney-related waste clearance and, in the Maxi panel, mineral balance.
No. Neither the Mini nor the Maxi panel requires fasting.
Your report is delivered digitally within 24 hours of your sample being collected.
Professional home collection can provide reliable testing when the sample is collected, handled, and transported according to the requirements of the selected test. Medilife uses trained, DHA-licensed healthcare professionals for home blood collection and follows the appropriate pathway for laboratory analysis.
Ask Medilife whether both a Liver Function Test and a Kidney Function Test can be collected during the same appointment.
A single unexpected result doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem, since factors like hydration, exercise, and muscle mass can all affect kidney markers. A Medilife doctor can help you understand your result and advise on appropriate next steps.
No. It's a valuable screening and monitoring tool, but it doesn't replace a full clinical evaluation. In some cases, a urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR) test or further assessment may be recommended alongside it.
