What Each Package Checks
Vitamin & Minerals Basic
A result outside the expected range on any one marker doesn't confirm a diagnosis by itself. Your doctor will look at the full set of results alongside your symptoms and health history.
- This package checks Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid alongside Zinc, Calcium and Magnesium, plus the electrolytes Sodium, Potassium and Chloride. Together, these markers give a general picture of your vitamin, mineral and electrolyte status from a single blood sample.
Vitamin B Complex Profile
This profile does not include Vitamin D or other vitamin groups. If you want Vitamin D checked as well, the Basic or Comprehensive package covers it.
- This profile focuses specifically on the B-vitamin group: B1, B2, B6, B9 (Folic Acid) and B12. B1, B2, B6 and B9 are measured by HPLC, and B12 is measured by CMIA, so you're getting a targeted, method-specific look at this vitamin group rather than a broader panel.
Vitamin, Minerals & Iron Comprehensive Profile
This profile also measures Ceruloplasmin, a laboratory protein related to copper metabolism, and Mercury, a separate heavy-metal measurement. Neither is a vitamin or an essential nutrient, but both are included as part of this wider profile.
Because this package covers so many markers, results are best reviewed with a doctor. Several factors, not just diet, can affect levels such as ferritin and electrolytes, so an abnormal reading on its own is a starting point for discussion rather than a diagnosis.
- This is the widest nutritional profile Medilife offers in one sample. It covers eleven vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B7, B9, B12, C, D and an additional Vitamin D–related measurement, E and K), eight minerals and trace elements (Copper, Zinc, Chromium, Selenium, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese and Phosphorus), the electrolytes Sodium, Potassium and Chloride, and a full set of iron-related markers: Iron, TIBC, Ferritin and % Transferrin Saturation.
Prefer to Test Just One Vitamin?
If you only need one result, for example because your doctor has asked for it specifically, a focused test may suit you better than a package.
Vitamin D Test
Checks Vitamin D on its own, without the other markers in a package. Useful if a doctor has requested Vitamin D specifically, or if you're tracking a level you've had checked before.
Vitamin B12 Test
Checks Vitamin B12 on its own. Useful if B12 has been requested specifically, or for repeat monitoring over time.
Quick answer
Who Considers Nutritional Testing
People arrange vitamin and mineral testing for several reasons, including:
- A doctor or healthcare professional has recommended it. If testing has been requested as part of your care, you can have the sample taken at home rather than visiting a clinic.
- Following up on a previously identified low level. A repeat test shows whether a level has changed since your last result.
- A restricted or selective diet. Testing shows your actual levels rather than relying on assumptions about what your diet provides.
- Wanting a broader nutritional check. Some people test as part of a general health review, without a specific concern driving it.
- A relevant health history or risk factor. Your doctor may suggest testing based on your medical history.

Preparation, Results and What They Mean
No Fasting Needed
You can eat and drink normally before your visit for any of the three packages or single tests. Please tell our team about any vitamin or mineral supplements you're taking, and any prescribed medicines, since these can affect certain results. Don't stop a prescribed medicine or supplement based on this page; speak with your doctor about any changes.
Results in Under 24 Hours
Your results are ready in under 24 hours from collection, regardless of which package or test you choose.

Quick answer
What These Tests Can, and Cannot, Tell You
Your report shows each marker measured against the laboratory's reference range for that test. That range is what your result should be read against, and it's the guide your doctor will use.
A single marker outside the expected range is not automatically a diagnosis. Several factors, including diet, medication, hydration and underlying health conditions, can affect nutritional and biochemical markers. Ferritin and iron-related results, in particular, can be influenced by inflammation and other factors, so they need clinical context rather than a standalone reading. A normal result, equally, doesn't rule out every possible cause of how you're feeling.
Your results are best discussed with a doctor, who can consider them alongside your symptoms and medical history, and recommend further testing if appropriate. If you'd like support with this, you can see a Medilife doctor to go through your results.
