FSH Test in Dubai
An FSH blood test measures follicle-stimulating hormone, which helps regulate ovarian function and sperm production. Your doctor may request it during a fertility, menstrual or reproductive hormone assessment.
Medilife provides home blood collection across Dubai through its own healthcare team. Contact us about your FSH test request, a suitable collection date and the cost of the tests you need.
FSH test price and results: Ask our team for the current fee, collection charges, expected report timing and consultation options before booking.

When an FSH Test May Be Useful
FSH is produced by the pituitary gland. It supports ovarian follicle development in women and sperm production in men. The reason for testing helps determine when to collect the sample and which other results your doctor will consider. medlineplus.gov
Fertility and Menstrual Assessment
Fertility investigations
Your doctor may request FSH when investigating difficulty conceiving or assessing ovarian function. It can form part of a wider assessment with other hormone tests and, where indicated, ultrasound.
Irregular or absent periods
FSH can help a clinician investigate changes in your menstrual cycle. If your periods are irregular or have stopped, discuss the collection date with your doctor before choosing an appointment.
Male Fertility and Testicular Assessment
Male reproductive assessment
FSH may be requested during an investigation of male infertility or a low sperm count. It provides hormone information about testicular function. Semen analysis is a separate investigation that measures semen parameters, including sperm count.
A clinician may also request FSH for selected pituitary or puberty concerns. Menopause symptoms do not always require an FSH test; your age, symptoms and medical history guide that decision.
Preparing for Your FSH Blood Test
Preparation starts with knowing why the test was requested. Share any instructions from your doctor when enquiring about collection, particularly if you need several hormone tests.
Choosing the Right Cycle Day
For a baseline ovarian-reserve assessment, FSH is commonly measured on cycle days 2–4, together with estradiol, also called E2. FSH changes across the menstrual cycle, so the collection date matters when interpreting the result. Follow the date your clinician recommends for your assessment. ASRM
If progesterone is also requested to assess ovulation, it may need to be collected on a different date. A hormone profile does not necessarily mean every marker should be tested at the same point in your cycle.
Fasting and Medication Instructions
An isolated FSH test generally does not require fasting. Other tests collected at the same appointment may have different preparation requirements, so check the instructions for your complete test request.
Before collection:
- Share your last menstrual period date and any cycle-timing instructions.
- Tell your clinician about hormonal contraception, fertility medicines, hormone therapy and supplements.
- Mention whether you are pregnant or could be pregnant.
- Follow any specific instructions from your doctor or the laboratory.
Do not stop prescribed medicines or change a fertility-treatment schedule without medical advice.
Home Blood Collection in Dubai
Medilife’s own home healthcare team provides blood sample collection at homes, hotels and offices across Dubai. This allows you to discuss collection at your current location without travelling to a clinic for the blood draw.
To enquire about your appointment:
- 1
Contact Medilife.
Call or WhatsApp with the name of the test you need.
- 2
Share your request and location.
Include your doctor’s instructions and any required collection date.
- 3
Confirm the arrangements.
Ask about availability, preparation, the complete fee and how and when you will receive the report.
A blood draw involves taking a small sample from a vein, usually in your arm. The specimen is used for laboratory measurement. The healthcare professional collecting the sample and the clinician interpreting your results have different roles.
If you have a prescription for several markers, share the full list so you can discuss the appropriate collection arrangements together.
Understanding Your FSH Results
An FSH result is most useful when your clinician understands the reason for testing and the circumstances of collection.
- 01
Your Result and Laboratory Reference Range
Your laboratory report lists the measured FSH concentration, its units and a reference interval. Units commonly include IU/L or mIU/mL.
Use the reference interval on your own report. Interpretation considers your age, sex, menstrual phase, symptoms, medicines and other hormone results. A result collected at one point in a cycle may not be directly comparable with a result collected at another.
- 02
High or Low FSH and Next Steps
An elevated FSH result can be relevant to reduced ovarian or testicular function. A low result can be relevant to pituitary or hypothalamic function, among other circumstances. Your clinician considers these possibilities alongside your history and other findings. medlineplus.gov
FSH alone does not measure egg quality, count sperm or establish whether you can conceive. A normal result does not guarantee fertility, and an abnormal result does not provide a complete diagnosis. FSH alone also cannot diagnose PCOS.
Your doctor can advise whether further tests, specialist assessment or repeat measurement would be useful. If you need medical advice about your report, ask Medilife about arranging a separate GP assessment.
Related Hormone Tests and Profiles
If your doctor has requested only FSH, share that exact request. A broader profile measures additional markers and should match the clinical question being investigated.

Home Blood Testing
Medilife provides home sample collection for blood testing. If your prescription includes additional markers, share the complete request with our team to discuss collection availability and preparation. Ask about the tests you need together, particularly when timing instructions differ.
Female Hormone Profile: AED 900
This nine-marker profile includes FSH, LH, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, AMH, DHEA-S, cortisol and 17-OHP. It offers a broader scope than an individual FSH measurement. Discuss the requested markers and collection timing with your clinician before choosing the profile.
Broad Hormone Panel: AED 949
For a wider clinician-requested hormone assessment, Medilife’s broad panel includes FSH alongside markers such as LH, estradiol, prolactin, AMH, SHBG, and total and free testosterone. Ask for the full panel details and preparation instructions when enquiring.
Total and Free Testosterone Test: AED 320
This test measures two testosterone fractions. A clinician may request testosterone alongside FSH during a male reproductive or endocrine assessment. It measures a different hormone and is available as a separate testing option.
Doctor on Call and GP Assessment
A Medilife GP can assess your symptoms and medical history, discuss test selection and review results. Doctor on Call brings medical assessment to your location. Ask about arranging a consultation if you need advice before testing or help understanding your report.
Ask Medilife about your test request.

Common Questions About FSH Testing
No. Home blood collection involves a healthcare professional taking a venous sample for laboratory testing. A urine FSH kit is a different type of test. Tell the team which measurement your clinician has requested when enquiring.
Ask your clinician which date is appropriate for the reason you are being tested. Share that advice with Medilife when discussing collection. A standard cycle-day appointment will not suit every assessment.
Contact Medilife to check collection availability for your requested date. Collection timing and laboratory turnaround are separate. Ask when to expect your FSH report before confirming the appointment.
Ask for the exact test inclusions and complete price when enquiring. An FSH measurement, a multi-marker hormone profile and a GP consultation are different options. Confirm which services your appointment includes.
Ask the Medilife team about the requirements for your test request. If you already have a prescription or clinical instructions, share them so you can discuss the correct markers and collection timing.
Discuss your FSH test arrangements with Medilife
Share your requested tests, location and preferred date, and ask about the inclusive fee, preparation and expected report timing.
