Allergy Test at Home in Dubai
Find out what may be triggering your sneezing, rashes or reactions to food with an allergy blood test collected where you are. Medilife's own healthcare team arranges the visit and takes a small blood sample, so you do not need to travel to a clinic first.

Choosing the Right Allergy Test
Allergy testing is not one single test. The right choice depends on your symptoms, and only some tests can be done at home.
Specific IgE blood test
- What it checks
- Whether your immune system has made antibodies to foods, pollen, dust mites, moulds or pet dander
- Where it happens
- At home, from a blood sample
Skin prick test
- What it checks
- An immediate skin reaction to small amounts of allergen
- Where it happens
- In clinic, with a specialist
Patch test
- What it checks
- A delayed skin reaction to substances that touch your skin, such as metals, fragrances or chemicals
- Where it happens
- In clinic, over several visits
| Test | What it checks | Where it happens |
|---|---|---|
| Specific IgE blood test | Whether your immune system has made antibodies to foods, pollen, dust mites, moulds or pet dander | At home, from a blood sample |
| Skin prick test | An immediate skin reaction to small amounts of allergen | In clinic, with a specialist |
| Patch test | A delayed skin reaction to substances that touch your skin, such as metals, fragrances or chemicals | In clinic, over several visits |
Medilife arranges the blood test at home. If your symptoms point to a skin condition such as contact dermatitis, a doctor may advise patch testing instead, which has to be done in clinic.
What Your Results Can and Cannot Tell You
A positive IgE result shows sensitisation. Your immune system has made antibodies to a substance, but that does not always mean you will react when you meet it. A negative result makes an allergy less likely, though it does not rule one out in every case. This is why results are best read alongside your symptoms and medical history by a doctor.
Food allergy and food intolerance are also different. An allergy involves the immune system and can cause serious reactions. An intolerance usually affects digestion, with bloating, gas or discomfort. Blood tests that measure food-specific IgG are sometimes sold as food intolerance tests, but major allergy organisations advise against relying on them to diagnose food allergy or to decide which foods to cut out.

When an Allergy Test at Home May Help
Sneezing, itchy eyes or a blocked nose that keeps returning
If symptoms flare at certain times of year, in dusty rooms or around pets, testing can show whether pollen, dust mites, moulds or animal dander are involved.
Reactions after eating certain foods
Hives, swelling or stomach upset after a particular food are worth investigating. If you have had a strong reaction before, speak to a doctor before testing.
Itchy skin, eczema flares or unexplained rashes
A blood test can help show whether an allergic trigger is behind skin symptoms, alongside a doctor's assessment of your skin.
A child's reactions
Parents who are unsure what is causing a child's symptoms can contact Medilife to discuss testing, as the right approach depends on age and history.
A busy schedule or difficulty travelling
Testing at home, at your hotel or at your office suits people who cannot easily get to a clinic, including visitors to Dubai.
Severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, need emergency care, not a test. Call 998 for an ambulance.
How Your Home Visit Works
Contact Medilife
Call, message on WhatsApp or send an online enquiry. Tell us your symptoms and which allergens you want to check.
Medilife arranges your visit
Choose home, hotel or office. Same-day visits can be arranged.
Your sample is collected
A member of Medilife's team takes a small blood sample, which usually takes only a few minutes.
You receive your results
Your sample is analysed, and the team will tell you how and when to expect your results and what to do next.
You do not normally need to stop antihistamines for a blood test, unlike a skin prick test. Most allergy blood tests do not need fasting either. Do not stop any prescribed medicine unless your doctor tells you to, and the team will confirm any preparation for your chosen panel when you book.
Why Patients Choose Medilife for Testing at Home
Our own team
Sample collection is carried out by Medilife's own healthcare team, not passed to another provider.
A doctor when you need one
Medilife's Doctor on Call service runs 24/7, so if symptoms worry you before or after testing, you can arrange an assessment.
Across Dubai
Medilife's home healthcare services cover Dubai, from apartments and villas to hotels and offices.
More than one service in one place
If you also need nursing, wider blood tests or care for a family member, you can arrange it with the same provider.
