When to get vaccinated this season
Flu season in the UAE runs through autumn and winter. The vaccine takes about two weeks to build protection, so it is best to be vaccinated before flu spreads widely. Flu viruses change, so the vaccine is updated every year and you need a new dose each season. If you have not been vaccinated yet, it is still worth doing during the season.
If you're unwell, pregnant or managing a condition
If you have a fever or feel acutely unwell, tell us when you book. Our team will decide whether to vaccinate you now or wait until you have recovered. Anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction to a flu vaccine or one of its ingredients should not have it.
The flu vaccine prevents flu. It does not treat an infection you already have. If you already have flu symptoms, a Medilife doctor can assess you through Doctor on Call.

Side effects and aftercare
Most people have little or no reaction. Some notice a sore or red arm, mild fever, tiredness, a headache or muscle aches. These usually settle within a few days.
