Coenzyme Q 10 (CoQ10)
Co-enzyme Q 10 (CoQ 10) also known as ubiquinone, is a fat-soluble compound, a naturally occurring antioxidant found in the body, mainly in the mitochondria of the cells. CoQ 10 plays a crucial role in energy production and protecting cells from oxidative damage. While the body can produce CoQ10, the levels start to decline with age or certain health conditions, making supplementation helpful. Some medications, like statins, have a tendency to lower CoQ 10.
Sources of CoQ 10:
- Fatty fish, meat, nuts, whole grains.
- Supplementations
